Tonio Fenech clearly wanted to be immortalised in a carnival float this year. He has just informed the country that it was, and we use his very own words, "logistically impossible" to discuss ACTA in parliament before government agreed to it.
First we have a government that loses its majority in parliament. You would think it would be logistically impossible to govern but they have no worries. Gonzi calls an internal leadership election, keeps parliament closed for most of January and continues on regardless.
The truth is this. If ACTA legislation was something important to the PN like stopping divorce legislation from coming in, they would have moved heaven, earth and our parliament to make sure they stopped it, were seen to stop it and took all the praise for so doing.
Instead though instead of saying we were wrong or we didn't realise this curbed our freedoms they, via spokesperson Tonio Fenech, try to blame logistics.
This is more than a bit rich coming from a pseudo government that is only hanging on to government by manipulating logistics. The government lost its majority in parliament on January 25th. It should have called an election. But logisitically at this point Gonzi PN knows it would lose heavily. So it is delaying the election to get its logistics together, in other words, giving itself the time to give out the jobs, permits and all that is required to push the PN voter base forward.
It's not logistics Tonio Fenech. You ignore parliament because you think you can ignore parliament even when you lose your majority there. It's a lame excuse and not logistics at all. As Anthony Licari said in The Times on Saturday: it's time to shove this ACTA legislation down to the limbo where it still belongs. ACTA reduces our freedoms, is ill thought through and is open to draconian misinterpretation. The people will not let you bring ACTA in. You are ignoring parliament but you cannot ignore the people.
It is time for Fenech, ACTA and Gonzi PN to just go away and stop fobbing us off with lame and illogical excuses. Or at least join the Carnival parade?
The idiot wants us to believe that it won't harm our rights, but the EU Commission referred it to the ECJ for a decision. So now even the Commission is not sure about it but our ÄŠUÄŠ is.
