Nobody was injured in an explosion at the pyrotechnics factory of Kirkop's St Joseph band club, in Safi. The incident happened about 11.00h on Monday.

There were two men inside the main room, however when the explosion occurred, Nardu Camilleri, 53 and Jesmond Mizzi, 42, both Kirkop residents, escaped unscathed.

One of the men is said to have injured his right arm, Secretary of the club Angelo Schembri told journalists. "Luckily the amount of the material present in the factory was little", he added.

The AFM's bomb squad, CPD members and the police were on the scene of the incident.
