Malta online casinos with Vatican homepages

Sunday, 12 Feb 2012, 07:01

Italian police are on the look out for online casinos operating out of Malta. Police in Messina have busted a racket involving at least 13 persons who were running a network of illegal betting through eight different IT companies. They used cloned internet sites that were made to look very similar to sites having the necessary permits from the Italian Gaming Authority.

To cover up their activity they also used homepages with photos of the Vatican City on them. When you clicked on them you could play poker on line. The online casinos were based in Malta and Luxembourg because of the low tax rates in the two countries. The 13 men arrested in Messina were charged with tax evasion.
