Dom Mintoff movie to hit local cinemas

A documentary production on the political life of former Prime Minister Dom Mintoff is set to hit local cinemas in a couple of months.

"Dear Dom" was produced by an independent local studio 'Falkun Films' and analyses the various perspectives of Dom Mintoff's political persona.

"The movie is about the political persona of Dom Mintoff and how he shaped a country in his 60 years in politics", director and producer Pierre Ellul told maltastar.com.

The movie, which is 67minutes long, was submitted for classification and negotations are underway for it to be played in local theatres.

In the movie's trailer the political stand-off between Mintoff's government and the Church is the main highlight.

A fitting tribute to the man who taught us that Malta is first and foremost. The greatest political figure in Malta's history. Pity somebody came up with the idea of waiving off the Old Labour, when as attested by the new Labour Party candidate and former Nationalist Dr. Emanuel Mallia, he did wonders during the 70's. Mintoff will remain in our heart, however bad he might have been depicted by some interested parties. He laid down the first stone of separation from the State and Church and brought in fresh air for other younger generations to breathe in the later years. Mintoff is unique. Thanks Dom. Thanks Joseph Muscat for bringing back Dom Mintoff's name in the Labour Party and even saw his two daughters taking part in the LP General Conference.

The persons behind this move should be thanked and praised for their work. I'm sure this move will register itself in the annals of Maltese cinematography as the biography of the greatest of Maltese politicians a true patriot in his own right.
This move will promote and extend to Maltese citizens the true history behind this great man by exploring his political life, a life he invested in the complete interest of his nation. By its very nature of being a documentary completely based on facts this movie will establish publicly the long awaited truth about Dom This move should right the wrongs of the way history has been written by third parties where their main objective was to denigrate this great man and his achievements.
It is about time for truth to be established and for all Maltese of good will to know and appreciate what this great man achieved for us all. Dom was the man of his time, for he took his nation out of rags and raised their standard of living beyond all expectations. Poverty under Dom become a thing of the past and this he achieved by giving Malta its rightful identity amongst nations and by making it a Republic promoting peace.

Proset lid-direttur u producer Pierre Ellul li ghalkemm il-film ghadu ma harigtx jidher mit-trailor li huwa documentat tajjeb ukoll.
Ghall-poplu Malti kienu zminijiet ta' biza, ta' dlam, u ta' bidla izda ghall-Partit Laburista kienu zminijiet tad-deheb. Mintoff irnexilu jghallem lil poplu Malti kif jimxi wahdu b'rajh f'idejh minghajr il-hakma tal-barrani. Mintoff ghallem lil popul kif imexxi l-azjendi ta' pajjizna bhall ma kienu l-airmalta li illum il-p.n. kissira, il-banek il-BOV u il-MIDMED li dan ta l-ahhar bieghjawh bic-cicri u hafna u hafna azjendi ohra ghamel u fetah ghal-poplu MALTI u mux ghal erba tal-klikka.

Very important things to be known. How Mintoff took over the Government of Malta, after to the war , between the church and the state, and what Mintoff, in Government had done for his country and his people, apart from other things be had brought from abroad for the Maltese people. He was always an excellent negotiator and a looking forward politician.God bless him and thank you for every thing you done in the interest of our Maltese citizens.
