Divorce draft bill published

The divorce draft bill has been published in a supplement of the Government Gazzette. The bill already went through the first reading in Parliament and the debate is expected to start on Monday July 4.

The vote will be taken at the end of the debate on July 13. The bill is supported by the majority of MPs but there are still those who are opposing it. Some of the PN MPs will vote against the bill while other will abstain.

Only one Labour MP will vote against it and another will abstain.

Prime Minister Gonzi said that it is unfair that pressure is being made on MPs to respect the will of the people as he himself does not want to declare his voting intentions. However Gonzi did not deny that he will vote against the bill as suggested by his predecessor Eddie Fenech Adami.

Does this idiot of a PM we have, not realized that the people have spoken and he is there to full fill the peoples wishes and EFA should keep out of it, hes had his time now its time for him to lay down and sleep. As for unfair pressure on MPs to respect the people that's his job. If he cant respect the people he should get out of the job and leave it to someone who is much more capable of respecting the people. How many more jokes from the Gonzi gov. are we supposed to suffer?
