A lot of people believe that a night out isn't a night out without a little bit of alcohol, but how much is too much when it comes to social-drinking?

The perils of drinking during a night out time are very high, and many experts on alcoholism believe that binge drinking in young people starts on special occasions such as Christmas, New year or Birthdays.

According to Sedqa, people under the age of 18 shouldn’t drink. The body is still growing at this time and drinking may cause problems in the healthy development of the body.

Sedqa also recommends that people between 18 and 21 should only drink 2 units on a single occasion, while men over 21 are allowed 21 units throughout a period of five days. According to the organisation, when it comes to women, they should not exceed 14 units over five days. The organisation also recommends that not more than 4 units should be consumed in a single session.

But what is one unit? One unit is considered to be half a pint of beer, 1 glass of wine or 1 tot of hard liquor.
This e-newspaper also contacted sources within the emergency department, who revealed that an average of 20 people are admitted during Christmas as a direct result of excess drinking.
